ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Noah and I’m a Social Psychology Ph.D. Student, Research Scientist, and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow at Yale University. I’m advised by Drs. Maria Gendron and Margaret Clark in the Affective Science and Culture Lab and Clark Relationship Science Lab. I’m also employed as a Graduate Writing Partner through Yale’s College Writing Center and Poorvu Center for Teaching and Learning. In this role, I provide weekly writing support/consultation to Yale College Undergraduates in need of assistance.

My previous research has focused on the function of emotions (e.g., boredom and anger). Currently, I conduct research that encompasses the areas of close relationships, social energy expenditure, belonging, interpersonal predictability, and scale development. I’m also interested in interpersonal emotion regulation and how experiencing and expressing emotions affects close relationships.

MORE INFO

I am originally from Houston, Texas, and it was here where I received my Honors Associate’s Degree from Lone Star College-CyFair (2019) (Click here to view my commencement speech) before transferring to Texas A&M University (TAMU) to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and minor in Spanish (2021). I worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in several labs during my time at TAMU and as a Lab Manager for The Emotion Science Lab before moving to New Haven to begin my graduate studies. At TAMU, I also served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant and tutor for Elementary Statistics and Research Methods for 4 semesters, and as an Undergraduate Research Ambassador. In this role, I lead workshops and mentored students one-on-one about how to connect with research mentors and how to access funded research opportunities.
